The Woven Cowaramup community art exhibition was held at the Cowaramup Hall on Saturday evening, with local artists joining students and the wider community to celebrate the annual fundraising event.

The exhibition featured works created by artists of all talents and experience levels, with works being created on a standard-sized MDF block using a variety of mediums and styles.

The free event showcased more than 230 artworks, ranging from colourful paintings of wild creatures, intricate drawings, woven/textural pieces, collage, prints, resin, and sculptural forms.

Pieces were available for sale, as well as in silent auctions and raffles, while works were also created by Year 5/6 students from Cowaramup Primary School.

The proceeds from the sale of the students’ artworks – over $600 – will go back to the school for creative projects.

“Our community exhibition WILD was a huge success, showcasing the incredible talent, enthusiasm and creativity of local artists and community members,” Woven chairperson Shelley Genis said.

“The event brought people together, fostering a sense of pride and unity within our local area whilst highlighting the power of art to inspire and connect us all.

“The funds raised from the night will contribute to the operational costs of Woven and be put towards future event/workshop programming as we strive to bring to the community affordable and engaging workshops.”

Woven aims to create social bonds and strengthen mental resilience with regular workshops and creative projects within the local community.

The event was also supported by the Cowaramup CWA which ran a cake stall on the night, as well as several local businesses which donated raffle prizes, beverages and materials.

“This event was made possible by our incredibly generous community,” Shelley said.

“Thank you to all of the artists, volunteers, Woven Committee and their partners and friends, who once again made this a night to remember!”
