The Indian Ocean Longboard Club’s first contest off the year was held in challenging conditions at Yallingup on Saturday, February 8.
Tiny waves and a howling offshore wind made even catching a wave difficult. Nevertheless, some good surfing went down on the day.
In the Gill Warman handicap division, Jack Medland took out the top prize from Evan Ledger, Bill Gibson, Doug Curruthers and Michelle Soares-Mendes.
The round was sponsored by Holden Accountants.
The Club’s Annual General Meeting was held that night with retiring President Ray Holden handing over the reins to Even Ledger. Babs Putica was elected Vice President while Michelle Soares-Mendes and Paige Holden both remained as secretary and treasurer respectively.
Former president and club stalwart Phil Clifford was awarded Life Membership.
The next contest is at Yallingup on Saturday 15th March.
