Students, parents and teachers from Cape Naturaliste College gathered last week to celebrate the graduating class of 2024, where a number of special presentations were made to students who had achieved remarkable results over their final year of schooling.
ATAR Dux of 2024 was awarded to Devan Perry, recognising excellence in studies towards university entrance.
“In Year 11 and Year 12 Devan has studied ATAR Chemistry, ATAR English, ATAR Maths Methods, ATAR Maths Specialist, and ATAR Physics. He was the top performing student at the College in three of these subjects,” a school spokesperson said.
“Devan has excelled in all areas of his studies, but in particular in the study of Science and Mathematics. With a predicted ATAR of that places him in the top 10 percent of students in the State, we have no doubt that Devan will excel in his future tertiary studies.”
The Dux of Vocational Education Training (VET) recognises excellence in school studies, training qualifications and workplace learning.
This year, the award went to Sam Fielding, who diligently applied himself to his school subjects as well as his vocational courses.
“He has ably led the Student Leadership Team as College Captain and established effective and positive working relationships with all members of our school community.
“He received a Certificate of Merit from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority, completed a Certificate II in Workplace Skills, Certificate III in Accounts Administration and Certificate III in Business.
“He has a clear direction for the future, we have no doubt that Sam will continue to succeed with both his future academic and entrepreneurial pursuits.”
Amberly McClymont and Donovan Fitzgerald received Academic Excellence Awards in recognition of their outstanding results in the Mathematics and Science fields, with both students Certificates of Merit from the School Curriculum and Standards Authority in recognition of their results in Senior School.
The Nola Marino Forrest Medal went to Emilie Toner, who consistently demonstrated commitment and pride for the College and displayed excellence in attitude, behaviour and achievement, together with an awareness of others and their needs.
Joshua Moore received the Workplace Learning Award in recognition of his commitment to furthering his interests in vocational and work place settings, while Ryder Phillips received one of the VET Excellence awards for his commitment to the practical components of his Vocational courses in Year 11 and 12.
