Canal winners land top prizes for Christmas lights

For the sixth consecutive year, Newport Geographe proudly hosted the Port Geographe Christmas Lights Competition and Canal Cruises. This annual tradition, led by Aigle Royal Group has become a highlight for the Geographe community.

This year saw an impressive mix of new and returning competition entrants, whose dazzling displays transformed the canals into a Christmas wonderland.

A sold-out event reaffirmed the event’s status as a holiday highlight in the South West for both locals and visitors to the region.

The prize pool reached new heights this year, with $6,000 awarded to the grand prize winners, the McAloon family of Keel Retreat, who participated for the third year in a row.

Additionally, $2,000 prizes were awarded to four best new entrants, including Dave and Julie Ebert of Headstay Cove registering for the first time after years of displaying their lights.

“We have lived here for seven years and always put up Christmas lights but never registered. I think the effort that people put into their lights is great and adds a wonderful atmosphere to the canals,” Dave said.

Six $1,000 participation prizes were also awarded to longstanding entrants, whose displays continue to improve year after year.

These generous prizes sparked excitement among participants, inspiring them to create stunning displays that delighted audiences.

Joining for the first time were local sponsors Ray White Stocker Preston and Picton Civil, whose support added fresh enthusiasm. Meanwhile, the event’s faithful supporters Altair Estate, Busselton Dunsborough Mail, Dale Alcock Homes Southwest, Newport Geographe, Port Geographe Marina and WIN Network returned to help create another successful year.

Aigle Royal Group has been actively developing in Newport Geographe for over six years, focusing on creating a vibrant residential and lifestyle precinct that fosters a strong sense of community.
