Busselton’s cruise ship season is fast approaching, and the Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) is looking for new volunteers to join the crew of locals who welcome and orientate cruise ship passengers as they arrive at Busselton Foreshore.
In partnership with the City of Busselton, the MRBTA has been organising the cruise ship welcome at Busselton Foreshore since 2014.
Its team of volunteers help to offer a warm welcome for every cruise ship arriving at Busselton, with passengers sharing overwhelmingly positive feedback on the friendly staff and volunteers they encounter.
The 2024/25 season runs from October to May and will see 11 ships call at Busselton.
Cruise volunteer tasks include greeting passengers and providing visitor information; conducting passenger surveys; hopper bus hosting and ticketing, and set up and pack down of the welcome tent.
Half-day, full-day and split day shifts are available, with flexibility offered according to volunteers’ availability and abilities.
“We are extremely lucky to work with a team of dedicated volunteers who help ensure an excellent experience for cruise passengers,” MRBTA’s Helen Hosken, who oversees the welcome at Busselton Foreshore, said.
“Our volunteers enjoy the opportunity to get outdoors and act as the first point of contact for passengers arriving at Busselton Foreshore.
“It is also a chance to meet people from all over the world, and form friendships with likeminded locals.”
Those interested in joining the welcome team are encouraged to contact Helen via cruise@margaretriver.com or by leaving a message with the team at 9780 5911.
