Community members are invited to join the City of Busselton, school children, local groups and businesses in its fourth annual Reconciliation Walk, taking place at 10am on Friday May 30.
Held to coincide with National Reconciliation Week and led by Wadandi Elder Gloria Hill, the walk will start at the Merenj Boodja Bush Garden (corner of Queen Street and Marine Terrace).
Following official speeches the walk will head to the Busselton Foreshore, finishing at the Youth and Community Activities Building (YCAB), where a light lunch and activities will be provided by local Aboriginal-owned business, Pindari.
About 200 Elders, residents, school students, community groups and businesses are expected to participate, taking the opportunity to unite with Aboriginal community members and hear stories of culture.
This year’s Reconciliation Week theme of “Bridging Now to Next” reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future, and urges people to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
