Busselton marks 70 years with win over Lions
Busselton celebrated their 70th anniversary after defeating Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday afternoon, in the opening game of round sixteen.
The match was supposed to be played in heavy rain, but it never rained all day, with a healthy crowd watching the top five contest.
Busselton started strong, kicking the opening three goals of the match, with Jozef Parkinson kicking the opening major after four minutes, followed by a goal to Ethan Bowman and Ryan Ekert, who marked strongly all day.

The Lions started to get back into the contest, but kicked four behinds, and as is always the way, the ball went to the other end, landed in the hands of Ben Ganzer, who kicked the Magpies fourth goal.
Taine Williams kicked the Lions opening goal after the quarter time siren with Busselton leading by three goals.
Ekert and Aidan Austen started to dominate in the forward line, both kicking goals early in the the second quarter to open at thirty three point lead.
Goals to John Manuel and Taine Williams mid quarter narrowed the margin, but a late goal to Tony Notte gave the home side a 29 point lead at half time.
The Magpies blew the game open in the third term kicking three consecutive goals to lead by a game high forty four points.

Some individual brilliance from Jarrod Humphries who snapped a goal from 40m gave the Lions their only goal of the term.

Busselton dominated scoring and possession in the final term, restricting the Lions to one goal kicked by Cruz McCagh.
Ryan Ekert put an explanation mark on the contest when he kicked his fifth, with the final margin 57 points.
Ben Ganzer and Tony Notte played well for Busselton, while Ekert’s five goals was also impressive.
The win sets up a top of the table showdown with South Bunbury at Hands Oval, while the Lions now fall into the clutches of Donnybrook and Carey Park, and will face Dunsborough, in Dunsborough next Sunday.
