Busselton group closing in on piano project target
The Friends of Busselton Cultural Precinct’s grand piano campaign has progressed significantly in recent months thanks to some generous donations and successful grant applications.
The group has been fundraising for over 18 months to purchase a Yamaha C7X grand piano and is now looking for only an additional $5500 to complete the purchase of a piano which will be gifted to the Busselton community and homed in Saltwater Busselton.
Generous funding received from two local corporates and a local business has led to securing the opportunity to buy a piano by private sale.
“Southern Ports and Doral are important employers in our community and recognise that facilities and opportunities must be available in the communities their workforces live in.
We are deeply grateful for their support which has directly helped in securing this piano, enriching our cultural fabric and creating a lasting legacy,” said Lisa Massey, President of Friends of Busselton Cultural Precinct (BCP).
This grand piano will provide invaluable learning opportunities, supporting young musicians and fostering long-term career pathways in music and the performing arts.
“We want to especially acknowledge the generous donation from The Goose, our iconic cafe/ bar which caters for countless visitors to the jetty each week.
Its donation shows that this business values the local community and its aspirations above all else.” said Lisa.
Last week, the piano arrived and was installed temporarily in the City administration building, waiting on completion of Saltwater.
“This piano has an interesting provenance; it is in as-new condition; and was offered at a low price because the vendor was relocating to Hong Kong,” Lisa said.
“So we really do have to find the remaining funds to complete the purchase. We are asking for donations from local businesses and individuals to make up the shortfall.
“We are delighted with the community’s support of the campaign through donations and thank all donors for their generosity.”
