Busselton gears up for British Auto Classic
Busselton is revving up for a spectacular showcase of British automotive heritage with the upcoming British Auto Classic.
Set for Saturday, 26th October 2024, at Signal Park on Marine Terrace, this popular event returns for its third year and promises an exciting day filled with classic cars and family fun.
George Morrissey, events manager for Busselton’s Veteran and Classic Car Club (VCCC), shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming show.
“We’ll have a great mix of Jaguars, Austin Healeys, and many more classic British cars,” he said.
“When you see them, you remember when you were kids.”
The local branch of the VCCC saved the event, which almost didn’t happen this year.
They’ve taken the reins to ensure this celebration of British classics continues to be a staple in Busselton’s community calendar.
Visitors can expect an impressive display of Brisitsh-made engines and an array of vintage vehicles, including around 20 gleaming Jaguars and a strong showing of MGs.
“We’ve got 22 MGs in our club here,” Mr Morrissey noted proudly.
But it’s not just about cars. The Indian Harley Club from Bunbury will hit the road with over 20 bikes and enjoy the fun with their collection of classic British motorcycles.
The event isn’t just for car enthusiasts. Families can enjoy a picnic atmosphere while admiring the lovingly restored vehicles.
The local Lions Club will have food and drink options, making it a perfect day out for all ages.
Entry is by gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to the local hospice.
“It’s not a fundraiser as such, but it’s just something we’re doing to ensure that we hold it in the town,” Mr Morrissey said.
What makes these British classics so special?
Mr Morrissey believes it’s their increasing rarity and the dedication of their owners.
“People have their own ‘Pommy’ classics, and they pour a lot of love and attention into them.
“Most people you speak to consider that they’re just minding the vehicles for the next generation.”
The British Auto Classic will run from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature a free raffle and a People’s Choice Award.
Mark your calendars for this car-lovers British day out in Busselton.
It’s an opportunity to step back in time, appreciate the craftsmanship of an olden golden era, admire some true automotive gems, and support a worthy cause.
