Bunker Bay day of fun for Disabled Surfing Association

The Bunker Bay surfing days are a thrill for all involved, in and out of the water. All images thanks to Mick Marlin.
Surfers, volunteers and carers headed to Bunker Bay recently to take part in the latest Disabled Surfing Association South West ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ Day.
A good crowd of participants, carers and helpers turned up for a lovely day of surfing, with everyone enjoying the chance to soak up the sun and catch a wave or two, thanks to the help from the group’s passionate volunteer base.
City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin was also in the water as a volunteer, and later awarded the prizes to best surfer, most stoked, best wave, best volunteer and best wipeout.
Mr Cronin and Disabled Surfing Association South West President Ant Purcell both thanked the generous sponsors Dural, Busselton Water, Taz’s Bakery and Eagle Bay Brewery for their support for the organisation.
The Disabled Surfing Association was established in 2008, with the aim of providing surfing opportunities for people with varying levels of disability.
The group uses specific buoyancy aids and safety devices, specially-designed amphibious wheelchairs and the manpower of its many volunteers.
The final event for the summer will be held at Bunker Bay on Saturday March 8, from 9.30am.
Participants and volunteers are heartily welcomed.
