Bunbury have claimed their fourth Women’s Grand Final, when they defeated Busselton at Hands Memorial Oval on Sunday afternoon before a big crowd.

The match started in misty rain, but that cleared quickly, with Beth Beckett kicking the only goal of the opening term, which Busselton dominated.

Two quick goals at the start of the second quarter had the Bulldogs in front, by the Beckett kicked a brilliant goal to have the Magpies within two points at half time.

The match opened up in the third quarter, with Busselton taking the ball the length of the field, which ended in the arms of Havana Milner who ran into an open goal, putting the Magpies back in front.

The new grandstand was rocking when Poppy Stockwell converted from long range, which put the Bulldogs back to the lead.

Daisy Rigby received a free kick right in front of goals which extended the margin further, and when Stockwell got boot to ball on the goal line, Bunbury had opened up a fifteen point lead.

Bunbury dominated the final term but managed just one goal, missing five others, on their way to claiming the Premiership.

The score is the highest score in a Women’s Grand Final, and is also the highest aggregate score between the two teams.
