A dominant first quarter has set up Bunbury’s 17 point win over Augusta Margaret River on Sunday afternoon at PC Payne Park.

The Bulldogs kicked six unanswered goals in the opening term, and the Hawks defence was at sixes and sevens trying to stop the flow, as Bunbury scored quickly and easily.

An instant momentum switch after quarter time, saw the Hawks get right back into the match, kicking five goals to one, to trail by just 12 points at half time.

The Hawks pressed further in the third, but two clutch goals quelled the momentum as Bunbury opened up a 19 point lead at three quarter time.

Both sides would kick two goals in the last term, with the Hawks left to rue the opening quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs eight goals to five after quarter time.

Mackenna Taylor was the only multiple goals scorer for the match with two goals, with Dylan Heasman and Durak Tucker playing well for the home side.

Max Spyvee and Kieran Yakas played well for the Hawks, who have dropped to eighth on the ladder.

Bunbury will face Collie on Sunday at Payne Park, while the Hawks will play Donnybrook on Saturday in a crucial clash at VC Mitchell Park.
