Brilliant bird houses on display at Cocoon gallery

Members of Artzability display their creations as part of a project at the Margaret River Library's Cocoon Gallery for emerging artists. Picture supplied.
A new project by the Artzability team and supported by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River has seen some beautifully decorated birdhouses take pride of place at the Margaret River Library.
Housed in the Library’s Cocoon Gallery for emerging artists, the exhibition features bird houses and other creations including encaustic art mandalas, mosaic tiles and hand-built models of birds.
Artzability is a self-funded group of artists who create their work with help from their support carers every Monday during term time.
Project leader Tania Davey said Artzability was “a fantastic community group of creative people”.
“This bird house project was funded by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, which enabled us to purchase materials needed,” she said.

“We have all enjoyed the process of crafting hand made tiles for our individual mosaic themed birdhouses.”
The mosaic process was led by local artist, Lee Gillan, while the Margaret River Men’s Shed contributed by building the bird houses for the project.
Shire President Julia Meldrum said she was impressed by the creativity of the Artzability group.
“The Cocoon Gallery is currently filled with beautiful bird houses and other artwork,” she said.
“We’re proud to support this amazing art project by these talented local artists.”
Four of our birdhouses are available for sale by silent auction, and the encaustic art mandalas are also available to purchase, at the gallery until the end of August.
Funds will help the not for profit group purchase more art materials and supplies.
