Local creatives will come together to deliver an exciting audio-visual experience at the Margaret River HEART this week.
Led by musician Tony Lane, the evening will feature 10 songs alongside 10 works of visual art created by South West artists, animators, photographers, dancers and filmmakers.
The esteemed musician and songwriter crafted the ten new songs, exploring themes of drought, community, marriage, dancing, the environment and tall tales.
Lane will take the audience on a storytelling journey, covering the inception of the songs, including the creative methods involved and the emotional journey of his 10 weeks of writing.
The songs will be brought to life by a new band of musicians including Gary Larkin (drums), Helen Rose (keys and voice), Gary Bennes (bass) and Dave Mann (guitar) – covering multiple genres and textures, from folk ballads to disco beats and grunge rock to reggae.
Each song will be accompanied by a projection of works by 10 local artists, including Catherine McDonald (film), Mike Goodwin (animation), Sari Bennett (dance), Ben Crappsley (pencil), Jane Hammond (film), Paul Lane (photo), Elaine Clocherty (land art), Danny Jennings (film), Karin Larkin and Martine Perret (photo). The night will also feature a set by local singer-songwriter Al Mac and his band.
Tony Lane Friends: Sum of the Parts is at the Margaret River HEART on Friday, 21 February from 7pm to 9pm. For tickets and info, visit artsmargaretriver.com
