Birthday Belles have plenty to celebrate

The Busselton Belles, one of two CWA branches in Busselton, will celebrate their 5th birthday in early September.

As the Country Women’s Association of Western Australia (CWA WA) celebrates its centenary this year, branches across the state are marking this significant milestone with various events.

The Busselton Belles, one of two branches in Busselton, will celebrate their 5th birthday in early September.

So, with two wonderful excuses for a big party, they will join the festivities with a special dinner dance on 30th August.

“The event is a celebration of coming together. It will be a big party for our organisation,” Busselton Belles Branch president Annie Evans Pascoe said.

“We are loud and proud of the Belle’s hard work over the past five years.

“The dance also celebrates the incredible work over the past 100 years of CWA WA throughout Australia,” she added.

“And we want to raise awareness that the CWA is not just about tea and scones; we are part of a wider organisation affecting positive change.”

The Busselton Belles invite the community to dance through the decades at their “Not Strictly Ballroom” themed event, which will take place at St Mary’s Family Centre in Busselton starting at 6.30 pm.

The evening promises to be an unforgettable, music and laughter-filled night for solos, couples, and families.

Attendees of all ages are encouraged to come along and dance the night away.

While dancing is optional, the fun is guaranteed. It doesn’t matter if you have two left feet; instruction dances will be included.

However, if you prefer to sit back and relax and watch the dancing with friends old and new, you’re most welcome to do so.

A delicious three-course long table dinner will be served to fuel all that fancy footwork.

The event is BYO, and entertainment will include a DJ and live performances, ensuring nonstop motivation to dance.

Guests are encouraged to dress in smart casual attire or to go all out and rock an outfit from their favourite era over the last 100 years.

The evening will also feature raffles and a prize for the best dressed.

The Busselton Belles branch was founded to accommodate working women who could not attend the original CWA branch’s Friday meetings, and welcomes members of all ages.

The committee of thirty-five dedicated individuals, including mothers, teenagers, and retirees, works together to raise funds for community causes such as mental health and hospice care.

Regular meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month, and the branch hosts a Craft and Chat session fortnightly on Thursday evenings, dining out at different local pubs and restaurants.

The Busselton Belles are looking forward to celebrating the CWA’s major milestone and raising public awareness of their branch.

“The evening promises to be a highlight in the local community calendar.”
