2023 local government election candidate Richard Beecroft was sworn in to the City of Busselton council on Monday, replacing recently resigned Councillor Sue Riccelli.
Cr Ricelli announced her resignation on January 29, following Councillor Cherise Woodhams’ resignation in November.
Under reforms to the Local Government Act 1995, Cr Beecroft was offered the vacant position on Council as the next unelected candidate in October’s election results.
Mr Beecroft will serve for the remainder of Cr Riccelli’s four year term, with his term expiring in October 2027.
Mayor Phill Cronin offered a warm welcome to Cr Beecroft ahead of the swearing in ceremony.
“On behalf of the Council I welcome Mr Beecroft to the team and look forward to working with him.”
