Backyard Brewing Tournament returns for 10th year

The Margaret River Beer Co’s popular Backyard Brewing Tournament will mark a major milestone next month.

“This year is a big one for us – we’re celebrating 10 years in business and 10 years of the Backyard Brewing Tournament,” MRBCo’s Justin Palmer said.

“To mark the occasion, we’ve expanded our prize categories to give more styles a chance to shine.

“Plus, all 9 previous winners will have their beer brewed and poured at the awards night – a first for us!”

Along with their regular tap lineup, the awards night will offer live music and good vibes as WA’s best home brewers are recognised.

Entries are now open with categories including Champion Beer, and awards for best lager, dark beer, hoppy beer and best sour, as well as most unique beer, best name and best first-time entrant.

“If you’ve got a one-of-a-kind brew bubbling away, we want to taste it.”

Beers will be judged by a panel of experts, with winners announced at the Brewhouse awards night on Friday June 20.

The winner of Champion Beer will have their brew manufactured by the Beer Co team, and will be served on tap at the Brewhouse as well as the winner’s local venue.

“You’ll become part of Brewhouse legend, soaking up the glory with a cold pint of your very own creation.”
