Athletes line up for Dunsborough race event

Dunsborough is preparing to host an exciting weekend at the XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship this weekend.

Featuring a suite of off-road triathlon and trail running races, the event is organised in collaboration with XTERRA Global, and marks the first World Cup race on the 2025 XTERRA circuit.

XTERRA Asia-Pacific VP Operations and Marketing, J-D Cousens said Meelup and Geographe Bay were the perfect location to host Asia’s biggest off-road triathlon and trail running events.

“We are honoured to bring the 2025 XTERRA Asia-Pacific Championship to the breathtaking south-west coast of Australia,” Cousens said.

“The stunning location, challenging trails, and vibrant Dunsborough community provide the perfect backdrop for this incredible weekend of off-road triathlon and trail running”.

Over 1,500 participants will compete, including 25 international elite athletes, across seven exhilarating races.

From the Full Distance Triathlon to Sprint Triathlon, Kids and Groms events, as well as Trail Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10km Trail Runs, there’s a race for everyone.

Kicking off the weekend is the XTERRA Short Track where spectators and the local community are invited to come down and watch on Thursday 27 March; racing starting from 15:30.

It’s loud and fast and sees the XTERRA Asia-Pacific top triathletes go head-to-head at a blistering pace through a condensed course running directly through the race village at the Dunsborough Country Club.

The Full Distance Triathlon held on the Saturday morning boasts a 1500m ocean swim, 28.5km mountain bike, and 10.5km coastal trail run.

The Dunsborough Country Club will serve as the event hub, featuring a lively expo and finish line celebration with food, drinks, and entertainment for both participants and spectators.

The awards ceremony will take place at Eagle Bay Brewery on the Saturday evening.
