Artwork finds new home at Origins Market

A unique partnership between community groups and a local business has created a unique and beautiful workshop area in Busselton’s Origins Market.

The Building Busselton Town team partnered with Busselton Men’s Shed to repurpose textile artwork created for 2024 Eco Fashion Week Australia in Busselton, then exhibited at Sculptures by the Bay in Dunsborough in March 2025.

“Our group was approached by champions of the artwork and asked if we could identify a home for it,” Lisa Massey, President of the Town Team said.

“Realising that this would need to be indoors we immediately thought that Origins Markets might have the perfect space to exhibit them.”

Titled ‘Our Visual Conversation’, the artwork is composed entirely of used materials and recognises the many hours of friendly interaction and crafting by local individuals that went into creating it.

The artwork is composed of countless short branches wrapped individually with wool, lace and fabric, all attached to pieces of wire mesh.

The Busselton Men’s Shed agreed to build wooden frames for the seven pieces of artwork so it could be displayed more permanently.

“The Men’s Shed very quickly built the frames and attached the artworks,” Lisa said.

“Now the artwork is secured on the frames, it will keep its form and look marvellous for a long time.

“We can’t wait until they come down to the markets to admire their efforts. It looks marvellous!”

Candice French, Marketing and Promotion Officer for Origins Markets said the workshop space had benefitted from from the colour and texture of the artwork.

“It looks creatively funky and welcoming,” she said.

“We intend to present more creative offerings here and promote this space for activities and small events.”

Building Busselton Town Team is part of the Town Team Movement creating/supporting initiatives and small events in the centre of town.
