There were plenty of reasons to celebrate as art lovers, creatives and supporters of the Margaret River Independent School gathered at Margaret River HEART for the 19th Annual Margaret River Art Auction.

The auction was a huge success, with $11,000 in prize money awarded to five artists on the night and funds raised through the donation of artworks and pieces by local creatives to support the school.

“With generous donations from our local artists, continuous support from our sponsors and the involvement of the dedicated parents and staff of MRIS, we will be heading into our 20th year of fundraising,” event coordinator Rachuel Knapinski said.

“What an amazing achievement!

“We are so honoured to showcase our region’s artists whilst fundraising for our children’s education in such an engaging, supportive, vibrant and exciting way.”

Winner of the Margaret River Art Prize for 2024, Cindy Nasato was presented with her $5000 prize by REDSEA Gallery owners, Charlie and Chris Churcher.

The People’s Choice Award of $2000 – sponsored by the White Elephant Beach Cafe – went to Marcelle Egberts for her piece titled ‘Main Break”.

The REDSEA Gallery Emerging Artist Prize of $1500 was awarded to Soleil Heimlich for ‘First Breath’.

Chloe Wilder won the $1000 Homes by Nature Sustainability Art Prize, while the $1500 Annapurna Wholefood Packers’ Prize went to Honor Denby.
