'Art in the Park': Outdoor gallery event marks 65 years

Art in the Park will be held in Mitchell Park, Busselton from Friday January 19 to Sunday January 21.
In what is understood to be one of Australia’s longest running outdoor exhibitions, the Busselton Art Society will mark an impressive milestone as it presents its 65th annual ‘Art in the Park’ event.
The three day exhibition is a highlight for both artists and visitors, with more than 300 original art pieces for sale, from hand painted porcelain pieces, wood turning, photography, hand-built pottery items and a silent auction.
The open quickdraw paint-off competition held on Saturday 20 January promises to be an exciting moment, entertaining for participants and spectators, and the children’s art projects will be held on Sunday.
An Art Society spokesperson said there was a healthy competition for art prizes up for grabs.
“The standard is high and always a challenge for the visiting judges.
“This art extravaganza is larger than life and a must see event for the whole family.”
The Busselton Art Society is based in the Art Geo complex and is a central hub of information and assistance for local artists undertaking various mediums in the forms of different groups, structured lessons and workshops.
There are over 130 members who are well connected to communities that share information, provide artistic support to anyone who wishes to be creative.
The facility is well equipped and suited to group workshops. exhibitions and socialising with other artists.
