More than 500 people headed to the Augusta Centennial Hall earlier this month for the Augusta Art Club’s 57th Annual Art Exhibition.

Held over the weekend of January 10 to 12, the event kicked off with an opening night full of excitement as eager buyers hastened to choose a piece of local art.

Visits on Saturday or Sunday were also popular, where the public could view the exhibition at a more leisurely pace and enjoy a morning or afternoon tea.

Popular vote slips were clutched tightly as all artworks were carefully studied to determine a favourite choice.

The Raffle is always popular. All prizes have been claimed.

Youngsters are also encouraged to vote, although organisers noted that fewer children attended the exhibition this year.

The club’s Wendy Strucelj said local artists put high value on the opinions of the viewers each year, as well as the prestige of landing the Popular Choice award.

“This year’s Popular Choice winners were Bev Schroder’s painting, ‘Karri‘, and the favourite piece of china was Jan Gozzi’s ‘Autumn Leaves – plate‘.

“Congratulations to our winning artists. We thank all participants for their votes.”

Wendy said club members could be proud of the high standard of works presented this year.

“It was another excellent exhibition,” she said.

Next year’s event is scheduled to take place from January 9 to 11, 2026.
